AI In The Classroom

During my five week practicum, I used AI applications like ChatGPT and Magic School AI. Magic School AI is an AI tool especially for teachers and provides many resources that make teaching easier. I have used this website for creating rubrics and generating worksheet ideas. I also enjoyed using Canva AI for creating exit slips and worksheets. ChatGPT was my most used tool as I used it to help me generate ideas on how to make certain lesson plans more engaging for students and also how to break down information to students to make it more understandable. I also enjoyed the way that ChatGPT created rubrics that were easy to use when assessing student work.

Throught this course, I learned the importance of integrating technology into the classroom, especially with this generation of students. The majority of students' lives are filled with technology at home and so using technology responsibly in the classroom can pique their interests. I enjoyed using technology like Scratch in the classroom, YouTube videos, and interactive slideshows. My perception of technology in classrooms has changed and I have found a new appreciation for allowing students to explore technology and integrate that into their education.

My students were most engaged in tasks that included creativity and/or technology. Knowing this, my questions from the beginning of the semester seemed to be answered through seeing my students interact with technology. I appreciated seeing the importance of tech in the classroom, given our technology-driven world. I was able to see aspects from this course in my practicum which allowed me to appreciate learning from this course overall.

I learned many different strategies through this course but also during practicum. First, I learned different online technologies that helped me with my teaching. One of my good friends introduced me to Magic School AI, the technology that I talked about earlier. Another thing I learned from others was simply exchanging ideas for lesson plans and strategies to use while teaching. I believe that I have also taught others these same things as well.

  1. Hi Nadia,
I love how you highlighted tools like Magic School AI, Canva AI, and ChatGPT and shared how they helped you create rubrics, worksheets, and engaging lesson plans; it’s clear you used them effectively to enhance your teaching! Your reflection on the importance of integrating technology to capture students’ interest is so insightful, especially your point about teaching responsible tech use for this generation. I’d love to hear more about how you used scratch or interactive slideshows in your lessons; those sound like such fun and creative tools! Amazing job overall! 😊
